MTrec are proudly representing our prestigious manufacturing client, based in Newcastle, who are looking to recruit a Shift Manager to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to join a successful company that really puts their employees at the heart of their business. The Job You’ll Do.
* Effectively lead shift operations, ensuring resources are prioritised and allocated to meet operational requirements.
* Manage shift changes and handovers to maintain seamless operational continuity.
* Conduct initial Safety and Conduct investigations in line with company procedures.
* Carry out Return to Work meetings following employee absences.
* Conduct low-level conduct and absence management meetings.
* Ensure stock checks are completed accurately and on schedule.
* Make labour allocation decisions and maintain accurate absence records.
* Monitor and manage daily operational KPIs to achieve performance targets.
* Lead daily operational meetings to communicate priorities, performance, and key updates.
* Coordinate the ordering of PPE and workwear to maintain adequate stock levels.
* Promote 100% shift participation in Unsafe Situation Reporting to support a proactive safety culture.
* Maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping across the operational area.
* Escalate out-of-hours operational, engineering, and SHE issues to the relevant managers as required.
* Work a rotating three-shift pattern, covering day, night, and back shifts to support 24/7 operations.
About You;
* Experience managing a team within an engineering/manufacturing environment
* Educated to GCSE level or above
* Additional Management qualifications are desirable but not required (IOSH, NVQ, NEBOSH, LEAN etc.)
* Committed to health & safety
* Act as a positive role model and set a good example
* Possesses a can-do positive attitude with a drive to succeed and motivate others
* Possesses excellent communication skills
* Remain calm under pressure
