Hours: 8am – 4pm Monday to Thursday and Fridays 8am-12:30pm

We are actively seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a global automotive company based in Peterlee to specialise in fluid power and structural integration.
Design Engineers will be responsible for designing, simulating, and routing the hydraulic systems of industrial vehicles ensuring they can handle extreme pressures without breaking.
Responsibilities:
Design and integrate hydraulic pipework, flexible hoses, and rigid tubing within steel machines, ensuring correct routing, clearance, bend radius, and durability under high-vibration conditions.
Support NPI and continuous improvement and engineering change to resolve any design and manufacturing issues.
Perform FEA and simulations to validate the structural integrity of components under operational loading.
Collaborate with suppliers to source hydraulic components, including valves, pumps, and hoses.
Work with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and efficient to assemble.
Requirements:
9+ years' experience in a similar role delivering engineering projects from concept through to production.
Proficient in Creo.
Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, pumps, valves, manifolds, pipework, and hydraulic components.
Experience using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and simulation tools
