About the Role

Austin Dean Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of Kent County Council for compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Workers to join its Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking (UAS) Children's Service.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support vulnerable young people who have arrived in the UK without parents or carers. You will help create a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where children can settle, develop independence, access education and healthcare, learn English and prepare for a positive future.

Working as part of a professional team, you will provide high-quality care while ensuring the home operates in line with Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Ofsted requirements and safeguarding legislation.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide day-to-day care and emotional support to children living within the home.

* Build positive, trusting relationships that promote wellbeing and independence.

* Support children to attend education, health and other professional appointments.

* Plan and participate in meaningful educational, recreational and life-skills activities.

* Maintain accurate and timely records using electronic care systems.

* Work closely with managers, social workers and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes.

* Complete safeguarding and incident reports where required.

* Attend handovers, supervision sessions, team meetings and training.

* Promote equality, diversity, inclusion and children's rights at all times.

* Assist with the day-to-day running of the home, including meal preparation and household tasks where required.

Essential Requirements

* GCSEs (or equivalent) or NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People.

* Full UK Driving Licence.

* Experience working within a children's residential care environment.

* Knowledge of safeguarding, child development and children's legislation.

* Understanding of Ofsted standards and Children's Homes Regulations.

* Strong communication, organisational and IT skills.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Flexible to work a rota including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
