Job Purpose
We are seeking a skilled and mechanically biased technician to join our clients team in Stockton. The successful candidate will have strong experience in steam systems, including hose inspection and steam valve maintenance, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of plant equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out maintenance, inspection, and repair of steam systems and associated plant equipment
Perform hose inspections, ensuring compliance with safety standards and identifying wear, damage, or defects
Maintain, service, and troubleshoot steam valves, including isolation, control, and safety valves
Diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective solutions to minimise downtime
Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and reactive maintenance activities
Ensure all work is completed in line with company safety procedures, standards, and regulations
Maintain accurate maintenance records and inspection reports
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve system performance
Participate in shutdowns, turnarounds, and project work as required Essential Requirements
Proven experience as a mechanically biased technician within an industrial environment
Strong hands-on experience with steam systems
Demonstrable experience in hose inspection (industrial or steam applications)
Knowledge and experience of steam valves, including maintenance and fault finding
Good understanding of mechanical systems, piping, and pressure systems
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Commitment to health, safety, and compliance standards Desirable Skills & Qualifications
Relevant mechanical engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
Experience working in chemical, process, or energy industries
Knowledge of pressure systems safety regulations (PSSR)
Confined space / working at height certification (advantageous)
Experience with permit-to-work systems Key Competencies

Ability to work independently and under pressure
