Maintenance Engineer - Instrument Processing
📍 Reading 💰 Up to £50,000 per annum + Annual Bonus
About the Role
Join a specialist healthcare service supporting the NHS by ensuring the safe sterilisation of surgical instruments. This is a site-based Maintenance Engineer role, working on plant machinery, sterilisers, and automated systems.
Key Duties
Maintain & repair autoclaves, sterilisers, washers & plant equipment
Fault finding on mechanical & electrical systems
Work with steam plants, boilers, conveyors & automation
Carry out PPM, validation support, and compliance checks
Support contractors & manage spare parts
Participate in continuous improvement & on-call rota (1 in 4)Requirements
Engineering apprenticeship / HNC / HND / City & Guilds
2+ years in manufacturing, FMCG, or plant environments
Strong mechanical + electrical skills (ideally 50/50)
Experience with automation, hydraulics & pneumatics
PLC knowledge desirable
Full UK driving licencePackage & Hours
Mon-Fri, 40 hours (flexible start 7:00-8:30)
£30 standby + overtime (1.5x)
1 in 4 on-call
