Are you an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer looking for your next interim contract within Local Government?
A Hampshire Local Authority is seeking an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to join its busy and supportive Private Sector Housing team on an initial 6-month contract.
The Role
As a Private Sector Housing Officer, you'll manage a varied caseload across the Private Rented Sector, focusing on improving housing standards, ensuring compliance with legislation, and delivering effective private sector housing functions.
Key responsibilities will include:
Carrying out HHSRS inspections and property investigations.
Assessing Category 1 and Category 2 hazards under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System.
Serving statutory notices under the Housing Act 2004.
Preparing and issuing Civil Penalty Notices (CPNs).
Investigating housing complaints, disrepair cases and poor housing conditions.
Liaising with landlords, tenants, legal teams and external agencies.
Preparing detailed inspection reports and evidence packs.
Supporting wider Private Sector Housing initiatives.
About You
To be considered for this Private Sector Housing Officer role, you will have:
Recent experience working within a Local Authority Private Sector Housing team.
Strong knowledge of the Housing Act 2004 and HHSRS.
Experience preparing and issuing Civil Penalty Notices.
The ability to independently manage a busy and varied caseload.
Excellent communication, negotiation and report-writing skills.
Availability to start at short notice would be advantageous.
Contract Details
£55-£60 per hour (Umbrella)
Initial 6-month contract, with the potential for extension.
Hybrid working arrangements.
