A specialist mental health service in the Romford area is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join its multidisciplinary team on a full-time basis.
Set within a peaceful countryside environment with extensive outdoor grounds, this established healthcare facility provides a therapeutic setting that supports recovery, wellbeing, and rehabilitation for individuals receiving specialist mental health care.
The Role
As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in supporting service users to achieve greater independence, improve daily functioning, and work towards their personal recovery goals. Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, and deliver person-centred interventions that promote wellbeing and enhance quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to identify physical, cognitive, emotional, and environmental factors affecting daily living.
Develop and implement individualised, evidence-based treatment plans focused on improving functional independence.
Support service users in achieving goals related to self-care, education, employment, leisure, and community engagement.
Recommend and facilitate the use of adaptive equipment and environmental modifications where appropriate.
Deliver therapeutic interventions through both one-to-one and group-based sessions.
Utilise a range of occupational therapy approaches, including therapeutic activities, sensory-based interventions, and coping skills development.
Monitor, evaluate, and document client progress, adapting treatment plans as required.
Work closely with nursing staff, psychologists, psychiatrists, support workers, and external agencies to ensure coordinated care.
Liaise with families, carers, and relevant stakeholders to support positive outcomes for service users.
Advocate for service users and promote best practice within healthcare and community settings.Candidate Requirements
Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Previous experience within mental health, rehabilitation, or a related healthcare setting is desirable.
Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
