Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Ages 4-16) - Full-Time
Location: Knowsley, Liverpool
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Role Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Knowsley, Liverpool, supporting pupils aged 4-16 with a range of additional learning needs. Working closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will help create a positive, inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs both in the classroom and during individual or small group interventions
Assist teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons across the curriculum
Help implement EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
Promote pupils' independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing
Support the management of behaviour using positive and consistent strategies
Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, parents, and external professionals
Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements
Previous experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable
Understanding of needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and speech, language and communication difficulties
A patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
