We are seeking a proactive, hands-on Assistant Service Manager with a genuine passion for supporting people and improving quality of life. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced social care professional looking to develop their leadership skills within a rewarding and person-centred environment.
About the Service
This supported living service provides bespoke, person-centred support to two individuals with complex needs, including profound learning disabilities, autism, and mild behaviours that may challenge.
One individual uses some Makaton to communicate, and both individuals require a high level of personal care delivered with compassion, dignity and respect. The successful candidate will understand the importance of delivering tailored support that promotes independence, choice and wellbeing.
The Role
As Assistant Service Manager, you will support the Service Manager in the day-to-day running of the service, ensuring high standards of care and support are maintained while leading and developing a motivated staff team.
Key responsibilities include:
• Supporting and leading a positive and successful staff team
• Delivering high-quality, person-centred support
• Promoting independence while maintaining safeguarding and best practice standards
• Supporting recruitment, supervision and staff development
• Assisting with service compliance and operational responsibilities
• Acting as Service Manager in their absence where required
• Providing direct support when required, including personal care and complex support needs
• Supporting individuals with communication methods including Makaton where appropriate
Working Pattern
Flexibility is essential for this role and applicants must be able to work across a varied rota which may include:
• Early and late shifts
• Weekend and bank holiday working
• Participation in an on-call rota where required
• Occasional sleep-in or waking night duties where needed
• Dedicated administration time for operational responsibilities
