About the Role
Vision for Education is looking to appoint a caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils within welcoming and inclusive primary schools across Colchester.
This rewarding role involves working closely with children who require additional support to access learning and achieve their full potential. You will provide both 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils develop academically, socially, and emotionally within a positive learning environment. Typical needs may include Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and other additional learning needs.
Key Responsibilities
Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN
Work alongside class teachers and SENCOs to deliver targeted interventions
Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, literacy, and numeracy
Assist in implementing individual learning plans and support strategies
Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment for all pupils
Requirements
The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will:
Have experience supporting children or young people with additional needs
Be patient, resilient, and adaptable in their approach
Have strong communication and relationship-building skills
Be passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning
Work effectively as part of a wider school support team
Experience gained within schools, care settings, youth work, residential support, or specialist provisions is highly desirable.
