Transport Planner

Location: Avonmouth
Salary: £40,000 per annum
Hours: 6:30am – 5:00pm (1 hour lunch)

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and fast-growing business operating across the South West. An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Planner to join a busy and fast-paced logistics operation.

This role will suit an organised and proactive individual with experience or a strong interest in transport planning, logistics, or fleet coordination.

The Role

Reporting into senior management, you will support the daily planning and routing of a fleet of tipper vehicles, ensuring efficient, cost-effective deliveries and collections across the region.

Key responsibilities include:

*

Assisting with the management and utilisation of an in-house haulage fleet and subcontractors

*

Acting as the main point of contact for drivers and subcontracted hauliers

*

Planning and optimising daily routes with a focus on efficiency and cost control

*

Liaising with customers to arrange delivery and collection times

*

Providing drivers with routing information and site-specific instructions

*

Re-routing vehicles quickly and effectively when required

*

Tracking vehicle progress and updating customers when necessary

*

Monitoring road network issues and advising drivers accordingly

*

Coordinating information between operations, yard, and workshop teams

*

Assisting with accident investigations and reporting

*

Completing administrative duties accurately using transport and weighbridge systems (training provided)

*

Supporting the wider team with ad-hoc duties as required

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be highly organised, calm under pressure, and comfortable working in a fast-moving operational environment.

You will ideally have:

*

Previous experience in transport planning, logistics, or fleet management

*

Good geographical knowledge or route-planning/scheduling experience

*

A full UK driving licence

*

Strong time-management skills and the ability to work independently

*

Confidence using Microsoft Office and other office systems

*

Excellent communication skills with a professional and polite manner

*

A flexible attitude and strong work ethic
