Salary: £43,500 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, working between 4:00pm – 12:00am (30-minute lunch break)
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday

Our client is a leading provider of inventory management and logistics solutions, supporting businesses across the UK with the storage, management and distribution of critical parts and equipment.

Their Coventry operation plays a key role in ensuring customers receive a reliable, efficient and high-quality service. They operate within a fast-paced environment where safety, accuracy, service delivery and operational excellence are at the heart of everything they do.

They are now looking for an experienced Deputy Distribution Centre & Hub Manager to join their team and support the continued success of their National Hub and Distribution Centre.

The Role

As Deputy Distribution Centre & Hub Manager, you will be responsible for the operational performance of the Hub and Distribution Centre during your shift, ensuring the operation runs safely, efficiently and to schedule.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will lead operational teams, manage performance, support colleagues and work closely with business partners and suppliers to deliver excellent service levels.

You will be responsible for ensuring operational targets, KPIs and customer expectations are achieved, while maintaining the highest standards of Health & Safety, security, compliance and continuous improvement.

In the absence of the Hub & Distribution Centre Manager, you will assume responsibility for the overall management and performance of the site.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, motivate and support operational colleagues, business partners and suppliers to achieve operational and service objectives.

Manage the day-to-day running of the National Hub and Distribution Centre during shift.

Ensure the linehaul network operates safely, efficiently and on schedule.

Monitor operational performance, ensuring service levels, KPIs, SLAs and productivity targets are achieved or exceeded.

Support colleague performance, development, attendance and wellbeing through effective leadership and communication.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Ensure the security, integrity and safe handling of customer freight at all times.

Identify and resolve operational issues quickly to minimise disruption to service.

Drive performance improvement and support a culture of continuous improvement across the operation.

Ensure excellent housekeeping standards are maintained throughout the site.

Maintain high standards of site security and attend site outside normal working hours when required.

Support compliance activities including audits, operational checks and monitoring of processes and procedures.

Ensure all Health & Safety, environmental and ISO requirements are embedded within daily operations.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of operational procedures, company policies and business developments.

Communicate key information effectively to colleagues and ensure teams are aligned with operational priorities.

Work collaboratively with audit and compliance teams to maintain service quality and measure performance.

Deliver excellent customer service by understanding customer requirements and responding to service expectations.

Deputise for the Hub & Distribution Centre Manager when required.

About You

We are looking for an experienced operational leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has the ability to motivate teams, solve problems and deliver results.

You will have:

Previous experience managing teams within a warehouse, distribution, logistics or transport environment.

Proven experience delivering against operational KPIs, SLAs and performance targets.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, support and develop colleagues.

The ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy operational environment.

Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

The confidence to make sound decisions and take ownership, even when information is limited or time-sensitive.

Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Experience managing relationships with customers, suppliers or business partners.

A proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Good knowledge of Health & Safety, compliance and operational standards.

Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Flexibility to support changing operational requirements.

What We Offer

Salary of £43,500 per annum.

Permanent full-time position.

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

25 days annual leave plus public holidays, increasing to 30 days plus public holidays after 5 years’ service.
