Operations Manager
What will you be doing?
The Operations Manager is responsible for managing and developing the Operations and Fuel Handling teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the power generation facility. They are a key member of the site management team, ensuring operational performance, QHSE compliance, and delivery of contractual obligations in line with plant objectives.
Summary of Responsibilities:
* Manage and lead the Operations team within a 24/7 power generation environment
* Ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operation in line with operational limits, OEM guidelines, and regulatory requirements
* Drive plant availability, reliability, and performance improvements through effective operational management
* Oversee operational routines, testing activities, and first-line maintenance activities within the CMMS system
* Ensure compliance with QHSE standards, environmental requirements, and site procedures
* Support the delivery of operational targets, production requirements, and contractual obligations
* Manage team performance, development, training, and competency requirements
* Work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, and Site Management teams to optimise plant performance
* Identify operational, process, and people challenges and implement improvement actions
* Support emergency response and provide operational leadership when required
* Manage operational budgets, cost control, and resource planning activities
* Maintain compliance with ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001, and relevant UK safety legislation
Skills and knowledge required to succeed:
Proven experience in Operations Management within the Power Generation sector, ideally within Energy from Waste (EfW), Biomass, Renewable Energy, or large industrial power plants. Strong background in managing operational teams, plant performance, QHSE standards, and maintenance coordination. Engineering qualification at HND level or above preferred.
