Smile Education are currently recruiting a qualified ICT Teacher to join a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Manchester from 1 September 2026.
The position is particularly suitable for an ECT or teacher at an earlier stage of their career. The department recognises that newer teachers may still have gaps in their curriculum knowledge and will provide mentoring from the Head of Department and wider trust leadership.
The department is primarily looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills, effective classroom management and the confidence to lead lessons while ensuring students enjoy ICT as well as make progress.
Role Overview
As an ICT Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons that develop students’ digital knowledge, practical skills and confidence with technology.
You will maintain clear expectations for behaviour, create an inclusive classroom environment and adapt teaching to meet the needs of students of varying abilities.
The role is available full time, although part-time applications of approximately 0.6 may be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging ICT lessons.
Maintain strong classroom management and clear expectations.
Use digital resources and varied teaching strategies to support learning.
Adapt lessons for students of differing abilities, including SEND.
Assess and monitor student progress.
Provide constructive feedback and appropriate intervention.
Build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
Work closely with the Head of Department to develop curriculum knowledge
Contribute to departmental planning, meetings and wider school activities.
Follow safeguarding procedures and uphold school expectations.
Requirements
The successful candidate will hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Applicants should have a relevant degree or academic background in ICT, Computer Science or a related subject.
Strong subject knowledge is desirable, although mentoring will be provided for less experienced teachers.
Strong interpersonal skills and effective classroom management are essential.
Candidates must be able to engage students, lead lessons confidently and make the subject enjoyable and accessible.
Applicants must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
Candidates must have the right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available.
