Youth Worker - Heywood

A supportive and forward‑thinking school in Heywood is seeking a Youth Worker to work with pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support on a full-time basis.

This role is ideal for individuals who have experience engaging young people in community, youth or outreach settings and can act as a consistent, positive role model. You will work closely with pupils at risk of exclusion or those transitioning back into mainstream education and you will be able to demonstrate you are someone who can build trust, promote resilience and encourage positive routines.

As a Youth Worker, you will focus on supporting behaviour both on a 1:1 basis and as part of a whole‑school approach. You will help pupils develop positive routines, regulate their emotions and re‑engage with learning. Many pupils will have social, emotional or behavioural needs, and may have experienced challenges in previous settings.

This is a dynamic role that suits someone who can stay calm, communicate effectively and adapt to the needs of different individuals.

Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils on a 1:1 basis who require additional behavioural guidance
- Provide whole‑school behaviour support, helping pupils reintegrate into lessons
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may be at risk of exclusion
- Act as a mentor and role model for young people with social, emotional or behavioural needs
- Encourage engagement, resilience and emotional regulation
- Work closely with pastoral staff, behaviour teams and senior leaders
- Support transitions back into mainstream classrooms or routines

Youth Workers often bring strong communication skills, emotional intelligence and the ability to connect with young people who need consistency and understanding. Your experience in de‑escalation, mentoring and youth engagement is highly valued within a school environment.

Applicants with sports coaching or sports leadership experience are also encouraged to apply. Physical activity can be a powerful tool to engage pupils, build rapport and promote positive behaviour, particularly for young people who respond best to active, practical support.

We also welcome applicants with experience in:
-Youth Work or community youth projects
-Behaviour mentoring or outreach support
-Sports coaching or sports leadership
-SEMH environments
-Alternative provision or pupil referral units
-Pastoral, safeguarding or behaviour support roles

Ideal candidates will be:
-Confident and resilient
-Able to stay calm under pressure
-Skilled at building relationships with young people
-Consistent, reliable and positive in their approach
-Able to work proactively within a team.

If you are ready to make a positive impact and support young people who need a reliable, motivating role model, apply today. A consultant will contact you to discuss the next steps.

Aspire People Limited provides services as an Education Agency and an Education Employment Business. Aspire People is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and expects every candidate to share this commitment. Placements are subject, to appropriate Child Protection screening, including checks with former employers and the Disclosure and Barring Checks
