Personal Assistant to the Managing Director
Location: Laindon, Essex (Office-Based, Monday-Friday)
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 + Benefits
The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Personal Assistant to provide dedicated one-to-one support to a Managing Director within a successful engineering and manufacturing business based in Laindon.
This is a key position for a highly organised, proactive, and professional individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You'll become a trusted right-hand to the Managing Director, ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day business activities while handling highly confidential information with discretion.
The company specialises in the design and manufacture of bespoke filling and packaging machinery, supplying customers across a range of industries including pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and manufacturing.
This is a fully office-based role, working Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide confidential, one-to-one support to the Managing Director.
* Manage a busy and ever-changing diary, prioritising meetings and resolving scheduling conflicts.
* Organise meetings, prepare agendas, presentations and supporting documentation.
* Manage emails, correspondence and follow-up actions on behalf of the Managing Director.
* Arrange UK and international travel, accommodation and detailed itineraries.
* Prepare, format and proofread reports, presentations and business documents.
* Act as a professional point of contact for customers, suppliers and internal departments.
* Attend meetings where required, producing accurate minutes and tracking actions.
* Coordinate corporate events, exhibitions, conferences and business functions.
* Organise hospitality, refreshments and meeting facilities.
* Process expense claims accurately and within deadlines.
* Maintain an organised and professional working environment.
* Support a positive, collaborative culture across the business.
About You
We're looking for someone who can confidently manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
You will ideally have:
* Previous experience as a Personal Assistant or Executive Assistant supporting senior leadership.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* High levels of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.
* The ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
* Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Experience arranging travel, meetings and corporate events.
* Confident communication skills when dealing with senior stakeholders, customers and suppliers.
* Typing speed of approximately 40-60 words per minute.
