Lecturer in Carpentry Permanent | Full Time (37 hours per week) | Berkshire
Are you an experienced carpenter or joiner who wants to pass on your skills to the next generation? A well-established, highly regarded further education college in Berkshire is looking for a Lecturer in Carpentry to join its Structural Technologies department on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity to teach motivated learners on Level 1 and Level 2 Carpentry programmes within modern workshop facilities, helping students develop the practical skills and industry knowledge needed for successful careers in construction.
Salary
£31,633 - £45,341 per annum
Permanent contract
37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
The Role As a Lecturer in Carpentry, you will:
Deliver engaging practical and theory lessons to Level 1 and Level 2 learners.
Plan and prepare schemes of work and lesson plans.
Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
Act as a personal tutor, offering academic and pastoral support.
Maintain accurate learner records and contribute to quality assurance activities.
Work collaboratively with employers, parents and colleagues to support student success.
Contribute to curriculum development within the construction department.
What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who has:
A Level 2 qualification (or above) in Site Carpentry or Bench Joinery.
Level 2 English and Maths.
Experience teaching or training within a vocational or industry setting.
The ability to embed English and maths into vocational learning.
Strong organisational and classroom management skills.
A commitment to safeguarding, equality and learner achievement. A recognised teaching qualification (Level 4 or Level 5) and assessor qualifications would be advantageous, although support may be available for the right candidate to gain these.
