Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
£45,000 - £50,000 per annum | Monday - Friday (08:00 - 17:00)
A leading frozen food manufacturing business is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Engineer (multi-skilled, electrical bias preferred) to join their engineering team at a busy, modern production facility.
The site produces a wide range of high-volume frozen food products and operates a complex mix of production, packaging and industrial refrigeration systems. Engineering reliability is critical to maintaining continuous production, strict food safety standards, and temperature-controlled storage integrity.
This is a practical, fast-paced engineering role covering both production machinery and large-scale refrigeration systems, ideal for someone who enjoys varied technical work across mechanical, electrical and facilities maintenance.
Shift Pattern:
Monday to Friday | 08:00 - 17:00
Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required to support production demands.
Salary & Benefits:
£45,000 - £50,000 per annum (depending on experience)

28 days holiday (including bank holidays)

You will be working across:
Automated production and packing lines

Temperature-controlled storage and distribution areas
Factory utilities and site infrastructureThis is a varied role covering both production breakdowns and critical refrigeration systems.
Key Equipment & Systems:
You will maintain and support a wide range of equipment, including:
Production Equipment
Dumpling production lines
Meat processing and slicing machinery
Packaging machines and sealers
Conveyors and transfer systems
Weighing systems
Metal detection systems
Vacuum and sealing equipment
Mixers, pumps and motors
Refrigeration & Cold Storage Systems
Spiral freezers
Tunnel freezers
Blast freezers
Cold rooms and freezer storage systems
Refrigeration compressors
Chillers
Evaporators and condensers
Control and monitoring systems
Site & Utilities
Air compressors
Water systems
Electrical distribution panels
Factory lighting
Drainage systems
General building services
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production and refrigeration equipment
Respond rapidly to breakdowns and restore equipment to full operation
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using structured fault-finding techniques
Maintain and repair industrial refrigeration and freezing systems
Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve efficiency
Assist with installation, commissioning and modification of new equipment
Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
Ensure compliance with food safety, HACCP and BRCGS standards
Carry out general site and facilities maintenance as required
Work closely with production teams to minimise disruption and maintain output
Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat failures
About You:
This role suits an engineer who is confident working in a fast-moving production environment and enjoys varied technical challenges across both mechanical and electrical systems.
You will ideally have:
Minimum 5 years' maintenance engineering experience
Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
Experience working within a manufacturing environment
Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings
Hands-on approach with excellent problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and under pressure
Desirable Experience:
Food manufacturing experience
Refrigeration / cold storage systems experience
F-Gas qualification
18th Edition Wiring Regulations
PLC fault-finding experience
Experience with VFDs / inverters
Welding or fabrication skills
