Mechanical Supervisor
Camberley | Data Centre | Permanent
If you’re a Mechanical Supervisor who wants to work on a proper data centre project rather than another standard commercial plantroom job, this is a strong opportunity.
You’ll be joining a major Camberley data centre scheme involving two new data halls and the refurbishment of an existing hall. The work is technically detailed, fast-moving and built around critical mechanical infrastructure, so it needs someone who can keep control of labour, quality, programme and coordination on site.
This is not a role for someone who waits to be told what to do. The project needs a Mechanical Supervisor who can walk the job, understand what is happening, pick up issues early and make sure the installation is being delivered safely and properly.
The role
You’ll be responsible for supervising mechanical installation works across a live data centre environment.
That means managing labour, subcontractors, materials, permits, access, QA, snagging and day-to-day site coordination, while working closely with the Mechanical Project Manager and wider delivery team.
The project is expected to include critical cooling, pipework, plantroom infrastructure, chilled water systems, ventilation, CRAC/CRAH units, valves, pumps, pressurisation, flushing, testing, commissioning support and handover documentation.
You’ll need to keep the work moving without letting standards drop.
What you’ll be doing
Supervising mechanical works across new data halls and refurbishment areas.
Managing direct labour, subcontractors and specialist mechanical installers.
Coordinating pipework, plant, ventilation, cooling systems and associated mechanical services.
Making sure works are installed to drawings, specifications, RAMS and project standards.
Checking progress against programme and supporting short-term lookahead planning.
Managing access, permits, deliveries, materials, logistics and site coordination.
Supporting QA checks, snagging, pressure testing, flushing, commissioning records and handover packs.
Working closely with project managers, engineers, commissioning teams, electrical teams and the client-side team.
Identifying issues early and pushing them through to resolution.
Maintaining high standards around health and safety, housekeeping and quality.
What you’ll need
You’ll need experience supervising mechanical works within data centres, critical environments, commercial projects, M&E contracting or technically demanding building services schemes.
Data centre experience would be a strong advantage, but strong mechanical supervision experience from complex projects will still be considered.
You should be confident reading drawings, coordinating labour, managing subcontractors and dealing with the practical issues that come up on site.
Experience with chilled water, pipework, plantrooms, ventilation, CRAC/CRAH units, flushing, testing and commissioning support would be useful.
You’ll ideally hold SSSTS or SMSTS, CSCS and have a strong mechanical background.
The right person
You’re organised, practical and hands-on.
You know how to control a workface, push progress and keep standards high without needing to be micromanaged.
You can deal with subcontractors, communicate clearly with the Project Manager and make sure the site team knows what needs to happen next.
You’ll suit this role if you want a permanent position on a serious data centre project, with proper technical exposure and the chance to work on critical mechanical infrastructure rather than repetitive commercial works.
