Job Title: Field Service Engineer
Field Service Engineer
South East (Field Based – Cambridge, Chelmsford, Colchester, East Grinstead)
We are currently recruiting for a Field Service Engineer to join a growing renewable energy business, supporting assets across the South East.
Package & Benefits
Up to £45k base
On-call allowance: £165 per week (approx. £8,500 annually based on rota)
Overtime paid for call-outs (minimum 4 hours per call)
Company van provided
26 days annual leave bank holidays

Ongoing training (including Gas Safe and OEM systems)
The Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, operation, and performance of power plant systems, ensuring high reliability and minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across flexible generation assets
Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on power generation systems
Support installation, commissioning, and post-handover defect rectification
Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems across medium/high voltage ranges
Replace and repair components including motors, ignition systems, and control equipment
Complete detailed service reports, including photographic evidence, via internal systems
Identify required spare parts and support asset reliability improvements
Respond to breakdowns and participate in an on-call rota
Requirements
Experience working as an Electrical Engineer within power generation, energy, or industrial environments
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills across electrical and mechanical systems
Knowledge of control systems and plant equipment
Experience completing service and inspection reports
Working Pattern
Monday to Friday (40 hours per week, between 8am–7pm)
On-call rota: 1 week in 5 (Friday to Friday)
Frequent travel across the South East with occasional overnight stays
