Your new role
As Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Teaching & Learning, you will play a critical role in driving standards across the school. You will provide strategic leadership to ensure high-quality teaching is consistently delivered in every classroom.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the whole-school Teaching & Learning strategy
Driving improvement in classroom practice, pedagogy, and curriculum delivery
Coaching and developing middle leaders and teaching staff to raise standards
Monitoring the quality of teaching through observations, work scrutiny, and data analysis
Embedding evidence-informed practice and innovation across departments
Supporting whole-school priorities and contributing to the wider leadership teamThis role offers the opportunity to make a tangible difference to outcomes and the student experience, while developing your senior leadership career.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
Proven experience of improving Teaching & Learning within a secondary setting
A strong track record of excellent classroom practice
The ability to inspire, challenge, and develop staff at all levels
Experience of leading initiatives that have led to measurable impact on outcomes
Strategic thinking combined with a hands-on, proactive approach
A genuine commitment to inclusion and raising aspirations for all learnersPrevious leadership experience (e.g. Head of Department, Lead Practitioner, or equivalent) is essential, and experience at senior leadership level would be advantageous.
This role is available on a full-time basis, with flexibility for either a permanent appointment or a temp-to-perm arrangement, starting in the autumn term.
