Overview
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Document Controller to join a leading Mechanical Contractor delivering complex, high-value projects across the UK and EUROPE. This is a permanent opportunity working on large-scale Data Centre projects, supporting project teams through the critical Stage 5 construction and delivery phase.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing project documentation, ensuring all drawings, technical submissions, RFIs, O&M manuals, and handover documentation are controlled, accurate, and distributed efficiently across internal teams, clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
Experience within the MEP / Building Services sector is essential, with a strong understanding of fast-paced construction environments and strict document control processes.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain all project documentation in line with company and client document control procedures.
Control the flow of technical documents including drawings, specifications, RFIs, technical submittals, and reports.
Upload, distribute, track, and archive project documentation using Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).
Ensure all documents are correctly named, revision controlled, and issued to relevant stakeholders.
Maintain accurate registers for drawings, submissions, and document transmittals.
Liaise closely with project managers, design teams, engineers, subcontractors, and client teams.
Monitor outstanding document submissions and chase overdue actions where required.
Support project teams during Stage 5 construction delivery, ensuring all live documentation is up to date.
Assist with compilation of handover packs, O&M manuals, as-built drawings, and final project closeout documentation.
Ensure all documentation meets quality assurance and compliance standards.
Requirements
Previous experience working as a Document Controller within Mechanical, MEP, or Building Services contracting.
Strong experience working on Data Centre projects or other technically complex construction projects.
Solid understanding of Stage 5 construction delivery and live project environments.
Proven experience using Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) for document management.
Excellent knowledge of document control procedures, revision management, and technical workflows.
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.
Desirable
Experience with additional document management systems such as Aconex, Viewpoint, or SharePoint.
Previous experience working for a Tier 1 contractor or specialist MEP contractor.
Knowledge of BIM workflows and coordination processes.
