Marking Out Technician – Joinery Manufacturing
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Marking Out Technician to join a well-established and highly respected joinery manufacturer based in Birmingham. This role is ideal for someone with a strong eye for detail, experience reading technical drawings, and an interest in high-quality joinery and manufacturing processes.
Working within the Joinery Department, you will play a vital role in supporting production by ensuring materials, drawings, and cutting sheets are accurately checked, prepared, and issued to the manufacturing teams.
The Role
As a Marking Out Technician, your responsibilities will include:
Maintaining accurate records of timber, veneer sheets, cutting sheets, and drawings.
Booking in timber and veneer materials and ensuring documentation is correctly recorded.
Checking material cutting sheets against technical drawings and identifying discrepancies.
Liaising with internal departments to resolve drawing, material, or manufacturing queries.
Marking out timber and veneered boards to drawing specifications.
Preparing materials for CNC machining and joinery mill operations.
Issuing materials, drawings, and documentation to Bench Joiners.
Maintaining drawing revision control and ensuring the latest versions are used.
Supporting production teams with technical information when required.
Working closely with the Setting Out Department, Joinery Mill, and Metal Shop.
Promoting a “Right First Time” approach to quality and manufacturing.
Ensuring health and safety procedures and company quality standards are followed.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will possess:
Ability to read and interpret technical and manufacturing drawings.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
Good communication skills with the ability to liaise across multiple departments.
Competent IT skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Experience:
Previous experience within a joinery, woodworking, manufacturing, or production environment.
Understanding of timber and veneered board materials.
Knowledge of CNC machining processes and joinery manufacturing methods.
Experience using AutoCAD, DWG TrueView, Procore, or Microsoft Excel.
Working Hours
39 hours per week.
Flexible start times of 6:30am, 7:00am, or 7:30am.
Monday to Thursday: 8-hour shifts.
Friday: 7-hour shift.
30-minute lunch break.
Early finish every Friday.
