Transport Planner
Location: London Gateway
Salary: £28,000 - £34,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits
An award-winning UK transport leader and multinational logistics provider is looking to recruit an experienced Transport Planner to join its busy operation based at London Gateway.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established transport team, planning container and general haulage movements across the UK. You'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the fleet, working closely with drivers, ports and customers to deliver exceptional service.
The Role
As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating daily transport operations, managing driver schedules and ensuring deliveries are completed efficiently while maintaining excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and coordinate UK-wide transport movements
Manage and communicate with multiple drivers throughout the day
Liaise with ports to coordinate collections and deliveries
Book delivery and collection slots for port entries
Use the TOPS transport management system to record driver start and finish times
Monitor driver progress, chase ETAs and ensure deliveries remain on schedule
Re-route jobs where required to maximise efficiency
Ensure all Proof of Deliveries (PODs) are accurately matched to jobs within the transport system
Communicate with customers regarding delivery updates, delays and revised ETAs
Work closely with the wider transport team to resolve operational issues quickly and effectively
Requirements
Previous experience as a Transport Planner, Traffic Operator or Transport Operator is essential
Experience within UK transport, ideally container transport (highly desirable) or general haulage
Excellent UK geographical knowledge
Strong organisational and time management skills
Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressure
Confident verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem-solving ability and the confidence to make operational decisions
Able to work independently while contributing to a busy team environment
Flexible approach to meet the demands of the business
Package
£28,000 - £34,000 depending on experience
