A well-established Groundworks & Civil Engineering contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee a portfolio of residential infrastructure projects across Yorkshire, the Northeast and North Midlands
Working with major national and regional house builders, you'll manage multiple live schemes from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest standards.
The Role
Reporting into the Operations Director, you'll oversee up to 8 live projects while supporting Site Managers, Engineers and delivery teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the delivery of multiple groundworks and civil engineering projects.
* Manage Site Managers, Engineers and Foremen across several sites.
* Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
* Carry out regular site visits and monitor progress, quality and performance.
* Drive programme delivery and resolve operational challenges.
* Manage labour, plant and subcontractor resources.
* Attend tender handovers, pre-start and progress meetings.
* Review construction programmes, logistics and buildability.
* Work closely with Commercial and Technical teams during pre-construction.
* Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and key stakeholders.
* Monitor project performance, costs and commercial risk.
* Promote high standards of health, safety and quality across all projects.
About You
You'll have a strong operational background within Groundworks or Civil Engineering and experience managing multiple residential infrastructure schemes.
Essential
* Previous experience as a Contracts Manager.
* Background in Groundworks, Civil Engineering or Infrastructure.
* Residential infrastructure experience.
* Knowledge of roads & sewers, drainage, earthworks and foundations.
* Experience managing multiple live projects.
* Strong leadership and client-facing skills.
* Commercial awareness.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
* HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
* SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid.
* Experience working with national or regional house builders.
