Rate: £40–£45 per hour (Inside IR35)

Duration: Initial 6 months (extension subject to project demand)

Our client operates within a large-scale industrial environment, delivering complex infrastructure and capital projects across the UK and internationally. With a strong focus on operational excellence, procurement plays a critical role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Buyer with a strong background in project-based procurement to support ongoing and upcoming projects. This role will involve sourcing and managing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring continuity of supply for key goods and services.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to deliver value-driven procurement solutions across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Research, source, and negotiate with suppliers for project-related goods and services
* Manage new and existing suppliers for indirect procurement requirements
* Create, negotiate, and maintain purchase agreements
* Lead tendering and RFQ processes for consultancy services and capital project works
* Analyse market trends and pricing to support procurement strategies
* Conduct Supplier Business Reviews (SBRs)
* Use SAP to raise requisitions, purchase orders, run reports, and manage invoices
* Support supplier onboarding and maintain supplier data via SRM systems
Key Skills
* Minimum 5+ years’ experience in purchasing, ideally within project environments
* Strong knowledge of JCT, CIC, or equivalent contracts (client-side)
* Experience using SAP or similar procurement systems
* Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive tasks through to completion
* Strong Excel and data analysis capability
* Team-oriented with a proactive and organised approach
