Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting experienced and passionate Tutors to provide high-quality, personalised education to children and young people across Sheffield, working outside of the traditional school setting. This rewarding supply opportunity offers flexibility while making a genuine difference to pupils who require additional support to achieve their full potential.

As a Tutor, you will work on a 1:1 basis with Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS3/KS4) pupils across a range of settings, including homes, community venues and alternative provisions, delivering tailored educational support that meets each learner's individual needs. Due to the nature of the role and travelling between multiple locations, candidates must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle.

The Role

You will be supporting secondary-aged pupils (KS3 & KS4) who are unable to access mainstream education for a variety of reasons. Many of the young people you will work with have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Working closely with schools, local authorities and families, you will deliver engaging, personalised learning programmes designed to build confidence, re-engage pupils with education and help them achieve positive outcomes. You will primarily provide tuition in core subjects, adapting your teaching to suit each learner's individual abilities, interests and educational goals.

Responsibilities

Deliver engaging 1:1 tuition to KS3 and KS4 pupils, tailored to their individual learning needs.
Travel to pupils at a variety of locations across Sheffield, including homes, community venues and alternative provisions.
Plan and adapt lessons to meet the requirements of pupils with SEND, SEMH and EHCPs.
Deliver high-quality tuition in core curriculum subjects, ensuring lessons are engaging and accessible.
Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement, attendance and progress.
Support pupils academically while promoting emotional wellbeing, resilience and confidence.
Monitor progress and maintain accurate records of learning and achievement.
Work collaboratively with schools, families and other professionals to support each learner's educational journey.
Implement effective behaviour management strategies using a nurturing and trauma-informed approach where appropriate.
Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who:

Have experience working with KS3 and KS4 pupils.
Have experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs.
Have a strong understanding of differentiated teaching and personalised learning.
Are patient, resilient and passionate about supporting vulnerable learners.
Can build strong professional relationships with pupils, families and professionals.
Have excellent communication and organisational skills.
Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle, as travel between multiple tutoring locations is essential.
Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or are willing to obtain one).
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or have significant tutoring or teaching experience (desirable).

Pay & Assignment Information

Tutors can earn up to £240 per day, with pay determined on a case-by-case basis. Higher rates are typically offered to candidates who can demonstrate:

Relevant experience working within Alternative Provision, SEND and/or SEMH settings.
Recognised teaching qualifications, such as Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
A strong track record of delivering successful 1:1 interventions and personalised learning. The final rate of pay will ultimately depend on several factors, including the individual needs of the pupil, the expectations and complexity of the assignment, your experience and qualifications, your availability, and the budget allocated by the Alternative Provision or commissioning organisation.
