An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Maintenance Department for an experienced and driven Reliability Engineer to join the team based in Barnsley.

This is a key role within the business, offering the opportunity to make a real impact on operational performance by improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and driving continuous improvement across our manufacturing operations.

Working closely with Maintenance, Production, and Quality teams, you will play a leading role in identifying and mitigating risks to critical assets, developing robust maintenance strategies, and implementing best-in-class reliability practices. If you are passionate about problem-solving, data-driven decision-making, and delivering sustainable improvements, we would love to hear from you.

The Role

As a Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that improve equipment performance, reliability, and overall operational efficiency. Using Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Lean methodologies, and Root Cause Analysis techniques, you will help drive a culture of continuous improvement throughout the site.

You will act as a technical leader within the maintenance function, supporting and developing the engineering team while working collaboratively with production colleagues to maximise plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and deliver a long-term reliability and maintenance strategy aligned with business objectives.

* Lead equipment failure investigations and implement effective corrective actions to eliminate recurring issues.

* Develop and integrate condition-based monitoring techniques to proactively identify potential equipment failures.

* Review and enhance planned preventative maintenance programmes to improve asset performance and reliability.

* Work closely with production teams to improve manufacturing processes and maximise equipment uptime and output.

* Analyse CMMS data, downtime trends, reliability metrics, and key performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities.

* Lead Root Cause Analysis investigations and ensure sustainable solutions are implemented.

* Establish, maintain, and drive compliance with maintenance standards and best practices.

* Promote and support Continuous Improvement initiatives across the site.

* Coach, mentor, and develop maintenance team members in reliability engineering principles and practices.

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver operational excellence and continuous performance improvements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be a proactive and hands-on engineering professional with a passion for reliability, continuous improvement, and team development.

Essential Requirements

* Proven experience within a Reliability Engineering or Maintenance Engineering role.

* Strong experience working within a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment.

* Qualified to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.

* Experienced multi-skilled engineer with strong fault-finding and problem-solving capabilities.

* Ability to lead, motivate, and influence engineering teams.

* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the business.

* Strong organisational, analytical, and numerical skills.

* Computer literate with experience using maintenance management systems.

* Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work effectively under pressure.

* Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Experience

* Experience within woodworking, FMCG, packaging, or other fast-paced manufacturing environments.

* Experience implementing or supporting Continuous Improvement programmes.

* Knowledge and application of Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), FMEA, and Root Cause Analysis methodologies.

* Lean Six Sigma qualification or certification.

* Experience using condition-based monitoring techniques and reliability tools.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who combines technical expertise with a forward-thinking approach. You'll be a natural problem solver who enjoys identifying opportunities for improvement, challenging existing processes, and working collaboratively to deliver results.

Most importantly, you'll be passionate about driving reliability, developing people, and helping create a high-performing engineering culture.

If you're looking for a role where you can make a significant impact and contribute to the ongoing success of a growing manufacturing operation, we'd love to hear from you.
