About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Teacher of English & KS5 Lead to join a supportive secondary school in Stevenage from September 2026. This is a full-time, temp-to-perm position with full teaching responsibilities, including leadership of Key Stage 5 English provision.

The successful candidate will be a passionate and knowledgeable English specialist with strong classroom management skills and a proven ability to deliver high-quality teaching and learning across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. You will play a key role in raising attainment, inspiring learners, and leading the development of English at KS5.

This role is open to fully qualified UK teachers with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) only.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging and challenging English lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
Lead and develop the KS5 English curriculum, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
Monitor, assess and track pupil progress, providing targeted feedback and intervention where required.
Maintain high expectations for behaviour, attendance and academic achievement.
Create a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils.
Contribute to curriculum development within the English department.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff and parents/carers.
Play an active role in the wider life of the school.
Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential (UK trained teachers only).
Experience teaching English across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Experience teaching Key Stage 5 English is essential.
Previous leadership or coordination experience at KS5 (desirable).
Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.
Excellent subject knowledge and understanding of the English curriculum.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
A proactive, reflective and professional approach to teaching and leadership.
