Data Protection & AI Governance Business Partner

  • Location: Remote (UK)
  • Contract Type: 4-Month Contract
  • Vetting: Will be put through BPSS check upon hire
  • Rate: Inside 475-525 p/day.
Role Overview

Working within a lean Compliance team, this role operationalizes privacy and AI frameworks, leads complex advisory services, and oversees responsible AI governance. The position ensures data and artificial intelligence are managed lawfully and ethically across all products and business workflows.

Key Requirements
  • Experience: 4-5 years in a similar data privacy role specifically within a software house/development environment.

  • Credentials: Must hold a CIPP/E and/or CIPM qualification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supplier Assurance: Lead vendor reviews for AI and privacy systems, verify technical/contractual controls, and sign off on outcomes within delegated thresholds.

  • Risk Assessments & Records: Lead DPIAs, LIAs, and AI impact assessments; identify mitigations for low-to-medium risk use cases. Identify and fill gaps in Article 30 documentation.

  • Business Advisory: Act as a pragmatic, solution-oriented advisor to cross-functional teams regarding privacy laws, internal policies, and ISO 27701 standards.

  • Project Support: Deliver ad-hoc compliance initiatives as requested by the DPO or Head of Governance.

Core Competencies & Skills
  • Strong knowledge of GDPR, DPA 2018, PECR, ISO 27701, and the emerging AI regulatory landscape.

  • Practical understanding of the AI/ML life cycle, automated decision-making (ADM)/profiling safeguards, and responsible AI principles.

  • Proven ability to translate complex compliance frameworks into actionable business processes.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and able to balance risk management with business innovation.

  • Flexibility to occasionally adjust working hours to support global time zones.

Desirable
  • CIPT certification or specialized training in ISO/NIST AI governance frameworks.
