A leading environmental and geotechnical consultancy is seeking a Geo-Environmental Engineer to join their growing Durham office. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Geo-Environmental Engineer to work on a wide range of contaminated land, brownfield redevelopment and ground investigation projects across the North East and wider UK.
The successful Geo-Environmental Engineer will be involved in all stages of project delivery, from site investigations through to reporting and remediation support. You will work alongside experienced environmental scientists, engineering geologists and geotechnical engineers, gaining exposure to technically challenging projects across the residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure sectors.
The Role
Planning, supervising and managing Phase 1 and Phase 2 site investigations
Logging soils and rock in accordance with current standards
Soil, groundwater and ground gas sampling and monitoring
Scheduling laboratory testing and interpreting analytical data
Preparing factual and interpretative geo-environmental reports
Completing Preliminary Risk Assessments (Phase 1 Desk Studies)
Undertaking Generic and Detailed Quantitative Risk Assessments
Supporting remediation strategy design and validation works
Liaising with clients, contractors and regulatory authorities
Ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations
Requirements
Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Geoscience, Engineering Geology or a related discipline
Experience within a geo-environmental, contaminated land or ground investigation role
Understanding of contaminated land legislation and risk assessment methodologies
Experience supervising site investigations and contractors
Strong report writing and communication skills
Full UK driving licence
