Design Manager - Retail Cut & Carve Project - Hull
I'm working with a fit-out and refurbishment contractor who are looking to appoint a Design Manager for a retail cut and carve project in Hull.
The works involve the subdivision of an existing shopping unit into two smaller retail units, including associated strip-out, partitioning, and builder's works.
You will report into a site-based Project Manager and take responsibility for managing the design process throughout the project, ensuring design information is coordinated, issued on time, and aligned with programme and site requirements.
The Role:
Managing the design process from pre-construction through to project completion
Coordinating architects, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams
Reviewing drawings and technical information to ensure buildability and compliance
Managing design queries, RFIs, and design changes throughout the programme
Ensuring design information is issued in line with procurement and construction deadlines
Supporting the Project Manager with programme coordination and technical problem solving
Liaising with the client and design team to ensure project requirements are metKey Requirements:
Previous experience as a Design Manager on retail refurbishment, fit-out, or cut and carve projects
Strong technical understanding of construction details and drawing coordination
Experience managing design programmes in fast-paced project environments
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to identify and resolve design issues proactively
Construction or design-related qualifications preferred
