NMS Recruit is recruiting an experienced Residential Fibre Installation Engineer on behalf of our client, a well-established and rapidly growing telecommunications infrastructure specialist trusted to deliver major network build projects across the UK.

As a key partner to leading telecoms providers, they offer a full turnkey service, from initial survey and design through to construction, testing, and project delivery. Job Purpose
The Residential Fibre Installation Engineer is responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of fibre broadband services within residential customer properties across the North West. The role involves delivering high-quality customer service while ensuring all installations meet company, industry, and health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
Installation Duties
• Install Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) and associated broadband equipment in residential properties.
• Route and secure internal and external fibre cabling in accordance with company standards.
• Install and configure Optical Network Terminals (ONTs), routers, and customer equipment.
• Complete fibre splicing, termination, and connections where required.
• Conduct service activation and commissioning activities.

Testing & Fault Resolution
• Perform optical testing using approved test equipment (e.g., Optical Power Meters, OTDRs).
• Diagnose and resolve fibre network faults and customer connectivity issues.
• Verify signal quality and service performance following installation.
• Escalate network issues to relevant support teams when necessary.

Customer Service
• Explain equipment operation and broadband services to customers.
• Maintain a professional and courteous approach at all times.
• Manage customer expectations regarding installation times and service delivery.
• Obtain customer sign-off upon successful completion of work.

Health, Safety & Compliance
• Adhere to all company health and safety procedures.
• Conduct site risk assessments before commencing work.
• Use ladders, power tools, and specialist equipment safely.
• Ensure all work complies with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in safe working order.

Documentation & Reporting
• Complete installation records and job reports accurately.
• Update work management systems using mobile devices or tablets.
• Record test results and installation photographs as required.
• Report defects, incidents, and safety concerns promptly.

Essential Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
• Previous experience as a Residential Fibre Installation Engineer
• Knowledge of fibre optic cabling principles and installation methods.
• Ability to use fibre testing equipment.
• Experience configuring broadband routers and customer networking equipment.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure and connectivity.

General Skills
• Strong problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Basic IT literacy and ability to use mobile work management systems.

Essential Qualifications
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• NRSWA
• Telecommunication qualifications
• DBS
