Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Essex (Halstead Area)
Salary: Up to £45,000 + Overtime (OTE £55,000)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 4:00pm
Overtime: Every other Saturday paid at 1.2x, occasional Sundays paid at 1.4x
Holiday: 25 Days + Bank Holidays
Pension: 3% Employee / 5% Employer
The Opportunity
A well-established industrial manufacturing business is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong mechanical background who enjoys fault finding, repairs and preventative maintenance within a heavy industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of industrial plant and machinery.
Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
Maintain and overhaul equipment including drive shafts, bearings, sprockets, chains and gearboxes.
Perform repairs and maintenance on hydraulic systems, including pumps, motors, valves and hoses.
Apply structured fault-finding techniques to identify and resolve equipment issues.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve reliability and performance.
Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and efficiently.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
Experience maintaining industrial machinery and plant equipment.
Proven fault-finding and repair experience.
Knowledge of hydraulic systems and associated components.
Engineering qualification at Level 3 or equivalent (preferred).
Desirable
Understanding of industrial electrical systems.
Experience working with three-phase motors and variable speed drives.
Knowledge of industrial control systems.
Understanding of safe isolation procedures.
Basic electrical fault-finding capability.
Ideal Background
