AI & Automation Intern

AI & Automation Intern | Summer Internship | £12.50 - £15.00 per Hour | Chester / Hybrid

We have an exciting opportunity for an AI & Automation Intern to join a small, growing renewable energy business specialising in solar PV, battery storage and heat pump installations.

This is a hands-on opportunity for a student or recent graduate who is passionate about AI, automation and emerging technologies. Working directly with the business owner, you will help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automate manual processes and support the company's wider digital transformation.

Unlike a traditional corporate internship, there is no internal IT or digital team. We are looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, experimenting with technology and implementing practical solutions that have a real impact on the business. You will be trusted to take ownership, bring ideas and deliver projects that will be used day-to-day across the organisation.

The role:

• Build AI-powered workflows to reduce administration and improve business efficiency
• Create AI agents to automate tasks such as organising installation photos and managing project documentation
• Develop automated customer handover packs and reporting processes
• Research, test and implement AI tools using platforms such as Claude, ChatGPT, Make, N8N, Lindy or similar technologies
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce manual workloads
• Improve and maintain the company WordPress website
• Set up and develop LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube channels
• Support wider digital transformation and technology projects across the business

About You:

• Current student or recent graduate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Business Technology, Digital Innovation or a related discipline
• Strong interest in AI, automation and emerging technologies
• Experience using ChatGPT, Claude or similar AI platforms
• Comfortable learning and experimenting with new tools independently
• Familiar with websites, WordPress or digital platforms
• Curious, proactive and naturally interested in solving problems
• Able to work independently and take ownership of projects
• Strong communication and organisational skills

Commercial work experience is not essential. We are far more interested in what you have built, automated, created or experimented with through university projects, personal projects, side projects or self-directed learning.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain real-world experience implementing AI and automation within a growing business, with the potential for ongoing part-time work beyond the internship for the right individual.
