Electronic Design Engineer - Permanent - Kent (Hybrid after probation)
A well-established engineering business is looking to hire an Electronic Design Engineer to take new electronics designs from requirements through release, supporting validation and manufacturing test activity in a high-volume environment.
Location / working pattern
Kent
Hybrid working available after probation
Permanent position
Salary: open (DOE) + benefits
What you'll be doing
Develop new electronics designs, interpreting internal/customer requirements and identifying gaps
Prepare designs to meet internal and customer needs (cost, quality, timing)
Create complete schematics, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical documentation
Conduct worst-case analysis against requirements and maintain Electrical DFMEA
Apply engineering standards and methodologies to project activities
Provide technical assistance to PCB ECAD teams
Release design documentation through internal systems and processes
Support Validation / Process Validation teams
Support Test teams in manufacturing plants
Prepare reports and presentations with clear analysis to support decisions
Define, prioritise and execute tasks to meet cost, quality, and timing goals
Escalate risks and issues to the core team
Apply structured problem-solving approaches in project execution
Maintain and update internal design guidelines
Ensure designs meet cost targets, manufacturability, and end-of-life / recycling targets
Develop and maintain test equipment, tools, and processes to relevant industry standards
What we're looking for
Proven electronics design experience (product development environment)
Experience with Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and FMEDA (or similar safety/analysis approaches)
Experience maintaining Electrical DFMEA
Strong, structured problem-solving approach
Tools: MS Office, ECAD/CAD tools (XPedition Enterprise preferred), plus simulation tools
Fluent English (written and spoken)
Team player in a global, cross-functional setup
Comfortable working to deadlines and communicating clearly
Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing and designs used in harsh environments (highly beneficial)
Awareness of cost targets and manufacturability considerations
