Location: Across College Campuses (Base site allocated)
Contract: Full‑time, 35 hours per week

City of Wolverhampton College is seeking a dedicated and learner‑centred SEND Lecturer (Futures) to deliver high‑quality teaching and support to students with a range of additional needs. This role is ideal for someone passionate about inclusive education, personalised learning, and helping learners develop the skills they need for independence, progression, and future pathways.
You will play a key role in delivering engaging sessions, supporting personal and social development, and ensuring every learner receives the tailored support they need to thrive.
About the Role
As a SEND Lecturer – Futures, you will:
• Plan and deliver structured, engaging lessons tailored to SEND learners
• Ensure planning is visible in every session and maintain up‑to‑date schemes of work
• Create differentiated learning resources and upload materials to the College VLE
• Start all classes promptly and maintain accurate registers
• Support learners with literacy, numeracy, communication, and digital skills
• Promote independence, personal development, and employability skills
• Embed equality, diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding themes throughout teaching
• Use ProMonitor/Markbook to set targets, track progress, and record assessments
• Provide timely, constructive feedback and return marked work within agreed timescales
• Work collaboratively with curriculum teams, support staff, and external agencies
• Provide pastoral support and refer learners to specialist services where appropriate
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
• Keep up to date with SEND best practice, curriculum changes, and awarding‑body requirements
Additional Responsibilities
• Participate in open days, recruitment events, and enrichment activities
• Contribute to curriculum planning and programme development
• Engage fully in the College’s performance management processes
• Undertake professional development as required
• Take on personal tutor or internal verification responsibilities where appropriate
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
• A teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS) or willingness to work towards one
• GCSE/Level 2 English and Maths (or willingness to achieve during probation)
• A relevant subject qualification at an appropriate level
• Experience delivering teaching, learning, or training
• Experience supporting SEND learners or vulnerable groups
• Ability to embed English, Maths, and personal development skills
• Experience delivering to awarding‑body standards, including marking and assessment
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Confident classroom management and ability to maximise learning
• Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice
Desirable:
• Qualification above the level being taught
• Experience across multiple awarding bodies
• Assessor or Internal Verifier qualification
• Ability to travel between sites
