Job Title: Senior Financial Accountant
Location: Birmingham (Nechells, B7)
Salary: £50,000-£55,000 (dependant on experience)
Type: Permanent, Full-Time, On Site
Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am–5:30pm
Overview
We are working with a well-established and growing specialist manufacturing business in Birmingham to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional to take on a highly visible role within the organisation, working closely with the CFO and playing a key part in shaping the company's financial performance and future growth.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will play a key role in managing and reporting on the company’s financial performance, ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards and supporting strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports, including forecasts
* Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
* Oversee cash management, including bank reconciliations and cashflow reporting
* Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
* Identify and implement process and system improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance
* Coordinate stock takes and reconcile book stock with physical counts
* Lead month-end closing processes
* Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards
* Support external audits
What Were Looking For
* Fully qualified ACA or ACCA accountant with relevant post-qualification experience in a similar role
* In-depth knowledge of UK GAAP/IFRS and financial regulations
* Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, SUMIFS, VLOOKUP) with experience in financial modelling, automation, scenario analysis, and KPI dashboard reporting
* Proficient with accounting software (Sage 200 preferred but not essential)
* Proactive self-starter with experience managing a small finance team
* Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset
* Excellent organisational, planning, and time-management abilities
* Effective communicator with strong analytical skills
* Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently
