We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a leading UK Facilities Management provider, supporting a prestigious Pharmaceutical contract in Cambridge. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a highly regulated, critical environment where reliability, compliance, and operational excellence are essential to site performance.
🔧 What you’ll be doing:
🛠️ Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across mechanical and building services systems
🌬️ Maintaining and repairing HVAC systems, pumps, pipework, pressurised systems, and associated mechanical plant
🔍 Diagnosing faults and carrying out effective root cause analysis to minimise downtime
⚙️ Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of critical mechanical infrastructure
📋 Completing maintenance records, compliance documentation, and reports accurately
🦺 Working in line with GMP standards, health & safety regulations, and site procedures
📈 Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and energy efficiency
🤝 Working closely with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors, and the wider engineering team to maintain service excellence
📊 Supporting contractual KPIs and service delivery standards
✅ Maintaining high standards of workmanship, professionalism, and customer service at all times
👷♂️ What we’re looking for:
🔹 Mechanical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship, or equivalent)
🔹 Experience within Facilities Management, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Life Sciences, or other regulated environments
🔹 Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, pumps, pipework, pressurised systems, and mechanical building services
🔹 Proven experience delivering both planned and reactive maintenance
🔹 Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
🔹 Strong understanding of health & safety and statutory compliance requirements
🔹 Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, critical environment
🔹 Good communication and stakeholder management skills
🔹 Proactive and customer-focused approach to service delivery
⭐ Desirable:
✅ Experience working within GMP-controlled environments
✅ Knowledge of pharmaceutical compliance requirements
✅ Experience using CAFM systems
✅ IOSH or equivalent health & safety qualification
✅ Experience supporting energy efficiency and continuous improvement projects
✅ Experience working on critical infrastructure and business-critical systems
