Are you a passionate and experienced teacher looking to make a genuine difference to young people with Special Educational Needs?
Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking dedicated 1:1 SEN Tutors to support children and young people across Sandwell and the surrounding areas from September 2026.
This role involves working with students aged 3-18 who may be out of mainstream education or require additional support due to a range of needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties, and complex needs. Tuition may take place within schools, at home, or in community settings depending on the individual needs of each learner.
This is a rewarding opportunity for teachers who are passionate about delivering personalised education and helping vulnerable students build confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive outcomes.
The Role
Deliver tailored 1:1 tuition sessions to students with SEN and additional needs
Plan and deliver engaging lessons in core subjects including Maths, English, and Science
Adapt lessons to suit individual learning styles, academic ability, and EHCP targets
Build positive and trusting relationships with students, families, schools, and professionals
Monitor, assess, and record student progress, providing regular feedback where required
Create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment
Work independently while receiving ongoing support from the Tradewind Tuition Team
Flexible working hours available within school hours (8:00am-4:00pm, Monday to Friday)Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience supporting students with SEN and/or additional needs
Strong knowledge of the UK curriculum
Experience teaching or tutoring core subjects including Maths and English
Excellent communication and behaviour management skills
Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learner needs
Compassionate, patient, and child-centred approach
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle preferred
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain oneDesirable Experience
Previous experience delivering GCSE or Functional Skills tuition
Experience working within SEN schools, Alternative Provisions, PRUs, or delivering 1:1 tuition

Pay rates are determined by qualifications, relevant SEN experience, subject specialisms, previous tuition experience, and the complexity of the student's needs.
