About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a long‑established precision engineering company in Washington, Tyne & Wear, seeking an experienced Hurco CNC Miller to join their skilled machining team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a machinist who enjoys varied, technical work and producing high‑accuracy components for sectors such as automotive, offshore, defence, renewables and general manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
*
CNC Milling — Setting, operating and programming Hurco CNC mills (WinMax control).
*
Reading Drawings — Working from detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
*
Tooling Setup — Selecting and setting tooling, fixtures and workholding.
*
Quality Checks — Using micrometers, verniers and gauges for in‑process and final inspection.
*
Process Improvements — Adjusting feeds, speeds and offsets to maintain accuracy.
*
Material Machining — Working with steels, alloys, aluminium and engineered plastics.
What We’re Looking For
*
Hurco/WinMax experience (essential)
*
Precision machining background with one‑offs and small batches
*
Strong understanding of machining principles and cutting data
*
Confident using manual measuring equipment
*
Reliable, quality‑focused and able to work independently
Hours & Pay
*
38 hours per week – Monday to Friday
*
£15.00/hr during probation
*
£16.00/hr after successful probation
