Manual Machinist
Experienced Manual Machinist with a background working within machine shop and manufacturing environments. Skilled in the preparation and machining of cast components using conventional machinery, with a strong focus on quality, safety and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Operating conventional machine tools, including manual lathes and milling machines.
* Preparing cast tubes and components for subsequent manufacturing processes.
* Carrying out machining operations to achieve required surface finish standards and minimise rework.
* Recording dimensional measurements before and after machining operations.
* Conducting visual inspections to ensure components meet quality requirements.
* Identifying and marking materials correctly, including alloy identification and segregation.
* Loading and unloading components using overhead cranes and associated lifting equipment.
* Making adjustments to machining processes to ensure products meet specification and quality standards.
* Following production plans and work instructions to meet operational targets.
* Maintaining a safe and organised work environment at all times.
Skills & Experience
* Experience operating conventional machine tools, including manual lathes and/or milling machines.
* Background within a machine shop, tool room or heavy engineering environment.
* Ability to interpret measurements and carry out dimensional inspections.
* Understanding of machining tolerances and surface finish requirements.
* Knowledge of quality control procedures and manufacturing standards.
* Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies
* Strong awareness of health and safety within a manufacturing environment.
Additional Information
* Available to work overtime, including weekends when required.
* Experience working within fast-paced engineering and manufacturing operations.
* Keen to develop further skills through ongoing training and progression opportunities.
Whats on offer
* 3 shift rotation (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm-6am)
* Earlies - £16.84
* Backs - £18.15
* Nights - £18.87
* Overtime at enhanced rates of 1.3, 1.5 and 2.0 depending on when completed
