Location: Ilford, Redbridge (IG2), East London
Contract: Full-time / Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: Competitive – dependent on experience
About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Ilford (IG2). This role will involve providing 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN), with a particular focus on supporting children with Autism and complex needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a meaningful difference in a child’s education, well-being and development.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism and complex learning needs
Support the child’s academic, social and emotional development
Implement strategies from EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans)
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt learning activities
Use a calm, patient and structured approach to support engagement and behaviour
Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupilThe Ideal Candidate Will Have
Experience working with children with Autism and/or complex needs
A strong understanding of SEN support strategies (e.g. visual timetables, sensory support, structured routines)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A calm, patient and empathetic approach
The ability to work effectively as part of a team
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needsDesirable (but not essential)
Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant)
Previous experience in a primary school setting
Training in areas such as Team Teach, PECS, Makaton or sensory strategiesWhat We Offer
