Providing one-to-one and small group interventions to develop language skills and confidence
Assisting students with reading, writing, speaking, and listening activities
Helping learners access the curriculum by adapting resources and clarifying language where required
Working collaboratively with teachers to deliver targeted language support strategies
Encouraging students to become confident, independent learners
Supporting the integration of newly arrived students into school life
Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching and inclusion staff
Assisting with pastoral and wellbeing support where appropriate
Contributing to a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual who is passionate about inclusion and supporting students to succeed.

You will have:

A degree or relevant experience working with young people
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
An understanding of, or interest in, language acquisition and EAL support
The ability to build positive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds
A patient, proactive, and encouraging approach
Excellent organisational and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for education and helping young people achieve their potentialPrevious experience in education, tutoring, mentoring, youth work, language support, or EAL interventions is desirable but not essential.

Why Apply?

Join a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Barnet
Make a meaningful difference to students' language development and academic success
Gain valuable experience for careers in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, linguistics, SEN, or pastoral support
Work alongside experienced teachers, SEN professionals, and EAL specialists
Full-time, term-time only position starting September 2026
Excellent opportunities for professional development and career progression
Be part of a diverse school community that values inclusion, achievement, and student wellbeing
