Location: Coalville, Leicestershire
Contract Length: 3–6 Months (Potential Extension)
Rate: £400–£450 per day/Night Outside IR35
Start Date: August
Shift Pattern: 7am to 5pm and the odd Night Shift

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting experienced Electrical Test & Commissioning Engineers to support a major warehouse automation project in Coalville, Leicestershire.

Working on behalf of a global leader in automated material handling and intralogistics solutions, you will play a key role in the testing, commissioning, and final delivery of a state-of-the-art automated distribution centre for one of the UK's largest retailers.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term automation project involving advanced conveyor systems, automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), robotics, controls systems, and warehouse software integration.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out electrical testing and commissioning activities on automated material handling equipment.
Perform system validation, functional testing, and fault-finding activities.
Support Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and performance testing.
Test and commission conveyors, sortation systems, cranes, shuttles, and associated controls equipment.
Diagnose and resolve electrical and controls-related issues.
Work closely with PLC Engineers, Controls Engineers, Software Engineers, and Project Teams.
Record test results, defects, and commissioning progress.
Support and oversee integration testing between PLC, SCADA, WCS, and WMS systems.
Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with site procedures.
Liaise directly with customers and project stakeholders where required.
Essential Requirements

Previous experience in electrical testing and commissioning within automation, material handling, intralogistics environment
Strong understanding of electrical control systems and automated machinery.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and control panel documentation.
Experience fault-finding and resolving issues using JIRA on automated equipment and controls systems.
Knowledge of PLC-controlled systems, including troubleshooting and commissioning activities.
Experience working with conveyors, sortation systems, automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), cranes, shuttles, or similar automated equipment.
Familiarity with Siemens and/or Allen Bradley PLC environments.
Understanding of SCADA, WCS, and WMS systems and their integration within automated facilities.
Experience supporting Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), functional testing, and system validation activities.
ECS Card required.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work closely with engineers, project teams, and customers on site.
