Our client, a well-established organisation based in High Wycombe, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer Technician to join its team in a predominantly office based role. This is a hands-on position supporting the mechanical build, refurbishment, testing and sub-assembly of machinery and associated parts.
This role will suit someone with strong mechanical aptitude, good attention to detail and the ability to work from technical drawings and specifications. You will be comfortable working independently as well as part of a technical team, with occasional travel to customer sites when required.
Duties will include:
* Interpreting and working from mechanical engineering drawings, schematics and bills of materials
* Carrying out mechanical assembly of machines, equipment and components to specified tolerances and standards
* Completing refurbishments, overhauls and repairs, including fault diagnosis and corrective actions
* Assembling sub-assemblies and kits for the spares department
* Carrying out functional, mechanical and safety testing prior to dispatch
* Identifying non-conformances and providing technical feedback to engineering or production teams
* Using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment safely and efficiently
* Supporting continuous improvement activities within the workshop
* Attending customer sites when required for installations, servicing, commissioning or inspections
* Maintaining accurate build, test and refurbishment records where required
The successful candidate will have:
* Proven experience in mechanical assembly, machine build or industrial equipment manufacture
* The ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation
* A strong understanding of mechanical systems, tolerances, fasteners and assembly procedures
* Experience in machinery refurbishment, repair and fault-finding
* Familiarity with workshop practices, quality standards and safe working procedures
* The ability to work independently to specifications and as part of a technical team
* A methodical and detail-oriented approach to work
* A reliable, well-organised and proactive attitude
* Willingness to travel to customer sites as required
* Physically capable of carrying out manual handling and workshop-based tasks
* An apprenticeship or qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering or similar would be advantageous
* A forklift truck licence would be beneficial but not essential
