Mechanical Engineer
Doncaster | £38,000 - £40,000 + International Travel + Early Friday Finish
We're looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer who wants to be involved in the complete lifecycle of industrial machinery - from assembly and commissioning through to customer support, troubleshooting, and influencing future machine designs.
If you're currently working as a Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Technician, Maintenance Engineer, or Mechanical Engineer and feel capable of more than simply following drawings and building equipment, this could be the next step in your career.
What Makes This Different?
You'll be far more than a machine builder.
You'll be trusted to:
* Assemble and commission specialist industrial machinery
* Visit customer sites across the UK and internationally
* Work directly with customers during installations and commissioning
* Identify improvements and provide practical engineering solutions
* Influence existing and future machine designs through your hands-on experience
* See projects through from workshop build to successful customer handover
This is a role where your engineering judgement matters.
Your ideas will be valued because you'll be the person building, testing, installing, and seeing how the equipment performs in the real world.
The Role
Based at the company's workshop in Doncaster, you'll work on the mechanical assembly, testing, and commissioning of bespoke industrial equipment used within heavy manufacturing environments.
Your responsibilities will include:
Mechanical Build & Assembly
* Building and assembling industrial machinery and mechanical systems
* Pneumatic assembly and system integration
* Small fabrication work including welding, drilling, and modification work
* Ensuring machinery is built to the highest standards before testing
Testing & Commissioning
* Commissioning machinery within the workshop environment
* Diagnosing and resolving issues before equipment is delivered
Site Installation & Customer Support
* Travelling to customer sites across the UK and internationally
* Installing and commissioning machinery in live production environments
* Working directly with customers to ensure successful project delivery
* Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues on-site
What We're Looking For
We're interested in practical engineers who enjoy solving problems and taking ownership.
You'll ideally have:
* BTEC Mechanical Engineering, HNC, or equivalent qualification
* Strong understanding of mechanical systems and machinery
* Experience with transmission drive assemblies
* Knowledge of structural assemblies and mechanical design principles
* Pneumatic systems experience
* A hands-on approach and willingness to travel
Desirable Experience
* Hydraulics knowledge
* Electrical knowledge
* Machinery build and commissioning experience
* Customer-facing engineering experience
The Package
* 25 Days Holiday plus Bank Holidays
* Private Pension
* Death in Service Benefit
* Approximately 6 weeks per year UK and international travel
Why Join?
This is an opportunity to become a genuinely well-rounded Mechanical Engineer.
You'll gain exposure to design, assembly, commissioning, customer interaction, fault finding, and continuous improvement - not just one part of the process.
You'll work with equipment that is designed, built, tested, and commissioned in-house, giving you the satisfaction of seeing projects through from concept to successful installation.
For engineers who enjoy variety, responsibility, and seeing the real-world impact of their work, opportunities like this don't come around often.
