Project Designer – Workplace Design & Build - Commercial Fit Out

A leading workplace design and build company based in London is seeking a Project Designer to join its design team. The role involves developing innovative, concept-led workplace solutions for a wide range of clients, contributing to both pitch work and live project support within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in translating client briefs into compelling workplace design proposals, supporting the business in securing new opportunities through high-quality design, strong presentation skills, and commercial awareness.

Role Overview

The Project Designer will work across multiple briefs, developing creative workplace concepts and supporting the delivery of visually engaging, commercially viable design solutions. The role requires a proactive and self-motivated designer who can work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.

They will be client-facing, confident in presenting ideas, and able to communicate design intent clearly during pitch and bid stages.

Key Responsibilities
Work as part of a collaborative pitch and design team to develop innovative workplace design solutions for enterprise clients.
Translate client briefs into clear, concept-driven design proposals that respond to functional, cultural, and commercial requirements.
Produce detailed space plans and test fits using AutoCAD with accuracy and efficiency.
Develop presentation materials including mood boards, concept boards, visuals, and pitch documents using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
Present design ideas to clients as part of pitches or wider project teams, clearly communicating design intent and strategy.
Support the coordination of design documentation, including finishes, materials, specifications, and budget considerations.
Contribute to the development of workplace trends, introducing new products, materials, and ideas to the wider team.
Use SketchUp and hand sketching to communicate early-stage design concepts where required.
Manage multiple deadlines within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Ensure all design solutions are commercially aware and aligned with project budgets.
Collaborate across design, pre-contracts, and business development teams to support successful bid outcomes.
Continuously contribute to raising the standard of design quality and presentation within the team. Skills & Experience
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign
Experience in workplace or commercial interior design environments
Ability to develop and communicate design concepts clearly and creatively
Strong presentation and client-facing skills
Experience with SketchUp and/or hand sketching desirable
Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Collaborative mindset with a proactive, can-do attitude
Commercial awareness and understanding of budget constraints Additional Information This is a fast-paced, design-led role offering the opportunity to work on high-profile workplace projects from concept through to pitch stage. The role reports directly to the Head of Design and works closely with multidisciplinary teams across the business
