A caring and inclusive primary school in Islington is seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Key Stage 2 pupil with severe Autism.

This is a highly rewarding role that requires a confident, patient and resilient individual with a strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils who have complex communication and sensory needs.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the child's academic, social and emotional development, helping them access learning and thrive within the school environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
Support a KS2 pupil with severe Autism to engage with learning activities
Implement strategies to support communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals
Adapt activities and resources to meet the pupil's individual needs
Encourage independence, confidence and social interaction where appropriate
Support transitions and maintain a structured, predictable learning environment

Essential Requirements

Previous experience supporting children with severe Autism in a school setting
Strong understanding of Autism and associated communication and sensory needs
Experience managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies
Calm, patient and resilient approach
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to follow support plans and work collaboratively with school staff and parents
