Overview
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Shift Engineer to join a busy, high-volume manufacturing operation in Leeds. This hands-on role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys problem-solving, fault finding, and keeping production running efficiently.
Working as part of an experienced engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining plant machinery, utilities, and site equipment through both planned and reactive maintenance activities.
This role would particularly suit engineers from manufacturing, production, industrial maintenance, or ex-military backgrounds, especially former Navy Marine Engineers or Armed Forces personnel with strong mechanical and electrical experience.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on plant machinery and site equipment.
Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
Work with PLC-controlled systems, 3-phase motors, boilers, bearings, conveyors, and associated machinery.
Complete routine inspections and maintenance checks.
Support production teams to ensure equipment reliability and performance.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
Follow Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work.
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and engineering projects.
Participate in breakdown response and call-outs when required.
Help maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment.

Strong mechanical engineering experience, supported by good electrical fault-finding skills.
Previous experience maintaining and repairing industrial or production machinery.

Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work with colleagues across all departments.

NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

Background within manufacturing, FMCG, production, or industrial environments.
